The pressure to deliver is on like never before. Leading the marketing team is a tough gig – but it can also be incredibly rewarding. Watching your business and brand grow is the best feeling you can get as a marketer. 

But most CMO’s, marketing directors and heads need a helping hand from time to time. Especially if you’re new to leadership.

The leap into leadership

I remember it well. My first head of marketing role was the biggest leap I made in my career, before or since.

Suddenly, you go from someone who executes to someone who has all the responsibility – for the brand, the budget, for growth, for agencies and your team. 

You’re expected to speak the language of the CFO, deal with sales, product and tech teams. Reporting is new. And your communication style has to change.

That’s why I developed the Leap into Leadership programme – to help marketers making taking their first head of / director / CMO role or those who just need a reset.

How the sessions work

We will create a bespoke plan based on your circumstances, but areas to cover could include:

  1. Leader vs Manager mindset
    – where value is created at each level, how communication is different, confidence and assertiveness in senior situations and how to challenge with authority
    Outcome: you’ll gain increased confidence in meetings and general communications and colleagues will begin to see your leadership potential.
  2. The SOPE Framework®
    – ensuring you understand the strategy, organisational requirements and processes to be able to execute marketing to your best ability
    Outcome: your marketing function will function more efficiently and you will gain real confidence in your decision making.
  3. Leadership presence
    – developing executive presence and gravitas, navigating politics and ensuring decision making is supported by colleagues
    Outcome: confidence in board-level conversations, eliminating imposter syndrome and building your career as a leader.
This can be delivered in a four-session coaching programme but an extended programme over three to six months will provide greater long-term success.
